Static Example
This example implementation is part of the Movie Masher distribution, and is the simplest
to install because it doesn't save the mash and therefore uses no CGI resources.
Get this running on your server in minutes -
just download the applet and install.
It demonstrates most of the new features available in the current version (2.2.12) of the applet...
-
The layout reflows as browser window is resized.
-
The player panel has a full screen button.
-
The media browser panel uses animated skins for the button fade effect,
additional item display options, and new search functionality.
-
The timeline uses new display options for
items and tracks, and offers a split button that cuts selected clips at the current playhead position.
-
A new Bender effect supports external loading of Pixel Bender PBJ effect files.
-
A new Shapes module autogenerates colored boxes, lines and circles.
-
This is used by the new Matte module to create some interesting transitions.
-
New effects modules include
Picturebox,
Textbox,
and Colorize
-
It's
now possible to attach effects directly to clips, so they move with them as the mash is resequenced.
-
Codebase transitioned to AS3 (Flash Player 10 now required), so everything's much faster.

Video Remixer Badly Subtitled Video
These microsites sites for MTV's Best Show Ever series ran for most of 2008,
allowing visitors to remix and subtitle supplied clips. These mashes were then saved to
their site or sent to friends as part of a larger viral campaign. The site was implemented
in an early beta of version two, taking advantage of these features:
-
Text based multilingual buttons and controls.
-
New anti aliasing options for fonts, and support for
east asian languages.
-
Extensive reskinning of controls and panels using scale9 resizing.
-
Popup windoids for login functionality, using the new 'z' axis
attribute of the panel tag.
-
A custom Subtitler effects module was created to
handle time based captioning.

groovemaker
This is by far the simplest implementation of Movie Masher out there - essentially just a restyling of the included demos
with a simple 'send to friend' feature bolted on with the CGI control. The whole project was completed in under
a day.
Here's a note the client encouraged me to put here:
"The Movie Masher software has given me, an independent producer,
the opportunity to realise my vision. If this wasn't freely available,
then my dream would be just that: a dream. Thank you Doug for designing it,
perfecting it and helping me adapt it for my site. I'm so excited to have found an
application that's easy and fun to use, but also perfectly completes my vision for
an interactive experience."

Scene Editor
This was the very first implementation of Movie Masher to launch publicly, using version one's more limited
feature set. The site is a popular webisode about a casting agency, and their masher allows visitors to
recast and edit specific episodes. The resulting mashups are then saved and emailed to friends.
Here's a note from the client:
"People are totally digging the editor on Cast This! As one person put it, 'this is totally addicting.'
I know at least one girl who sends one to her mother every other day :)"
